We are looking for a full-time Laboratory Scientific Officer to join the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department.
The position is for a 16-month period. The successful candidate is expected to begin on 2nd January 2026.
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will work on a translational research project focussed on therapy development for β-thalassaemia by gene editing of β-globin. Duties will include experimental work, such as primary cell culture, DNA and functional analyses of erythroid-lineage cells, production and characterisation of engineered virus-like particles, colony management of transgenic mice, and contribution to report writing and financial management of the project.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- BA/BSc or equivalent degree in any Biological Science, Chemistry or related field;
- Good command of English and of the Greek and/or Turkish language;
- Good interpersonal skills
Prior experimental experience in corresponding analyses and academic writing related to thalassaemia will be considered an advantage.
